 The Sam Box is a "Not-for-Profit" venture. Countless manhours, materials and money have been donated by groups and individuals in the public and private sectors to support this proactive idea. This site is dedicated to the memory of Sam Wilkinson, an 8 year old boy who drowned after falling through the ice on a frozen lagoon at Northside Park in Ocean City, Maryland on January 19, 2003. A Sambox is a lifesaving device that will help to see that no other lives are lost due to this type of emergency.
The simplicity and common sense approach to water safety are the best features of the Sambox. A life ring and float rope are housed in a weather-proof stainless steel cabinet. Add that to the 3-tiered alarming system and you have the most effective means of emergency alert available.
